OUR INNOVATION APPROACH

Original thinking.
Real-world impact.

Innovation is woven into CMC’s culture, from Giuseppe Ponti’s first workshop to packaging automation delivered on an industrial scale. Across the business, teams share ideas and turn fresh thinking into practical solutions.

With clients, CMC develops technology to reduce inventory and waste. It also aims to improve efficiency and personalisation and optimise cost. These projects bring teams together around a shared aim: reducing the environmental impact of client operations.

Client innovation & partnerships

CMC develops new ideas with its clients, building on existing technology. For example, in mailing, CMC developed paper-wrapping. This forms a wrap around a document using roll-fed paper, instead of inserting it into a pre-made envelope. The approach helped reduce waste and inventory while improving personalisation.

02

From mailing to right-sized packaging

From 2013, CMC built on its mailing expertise to develop 3D, right-sized packaging for e-commerce. Working with clients, the company continues to optimise paper consumption, box design and efficiency. CMC systems can integrate with new or existing infrastructure, helping reduce the footprint required in client facilities.

The next step in fulfilment

CMC’s Vary-Tote technology supports automation from sort to pick to pack for single and multi-line orders. This “product first, box last” approach brings right-sized packaging into the wider fulfilment process. CMC continues to work with clients on solutions for different products, package sizes and operating needs.
