CMC Innovation Day 2026 Brings Together 160 Industry Leaders to Advance Packaging Automation for Modern Fulfilment
Città di Castello, Italy – June 2026 – More than 160 attendees representing 87 companies across 30 countries gathered at CMC Packaging Automation’s headquarters. They came together for CID26 – CMC Innovation Day 2026. The annual event focuses on innovation in fulfilment automation, systems integration and right-sized packaging.
An ecosystem for fulfilment innovation
Built around the theme “Ecosystem,” CID26 brought together customers, technology partners, policymakers and industry experts. Together, they explored how collaboration is shaping packaging, logistics and eCommerce fulfilment. The programme featured five international speakers, 11 live technology demonstrations and customer success stories. Discussions also addressed the industry’s most pressing challenges.
Founder Giuseppe Ponti opened the day alongside Francesco Ponti, Chairman and CEO of CMC Packaging Automation. Their welcome remarks highlighted innovation, engineering excellence and long-term partnerships. These themes set the context for the next generation of fulfilment operations.
Regulation, strategy and customer experience
A central discussion focused on the European Union’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Pietro Fiocchi, Member of the European Parliament and Vice-Chair of the ENVI Committee, joined the panel. Other speakers included Chiara Signoria, ESG Director at CMC Packaging Automation, and Tim Werkhoven, Group Head of Public Affairs at Mondi Group. Together, they examined the regulatory landscape and its implications for the packaging industry.
CMC executives shared the company’s strategic vision and the latest developments in its right-sized packaging portfolio. Speakers included Riccardo De Antoni, Chief Business Development & Transformation Officer, and Marco Mozzarecchi, Sales Director. Customers also presented real-world case studies. These showed how packaging automation helps improve operational efficiency while reducing material consumption and environmental impact.
New concepts and live demonstrations
Attendees also received a first look at CMC’s evolving innovation roadmap. This included CMC Genesys PRIMA and the CMC Vertical ONE concept. Both reflect continued investment in automated packaging technologies for more flexible and sustainable fulfilment operations.
During the afternoon, visitors experienced 11 live demonstrations of CMC’s integrated automation technologies. These included CMC Genesys, CMC Genesys Compact, CMC CartonWrap DUO, CMC Super Vertical, CMC Paper-PRO and CMC Corrugator. The demonstrations showed how right-sized packaging automation can increase efficiency, reduce waste and optimize fulfilment processes.
Collaboration across the packaging ecosystem
The event also reinforced the value of collaboration across the packaging ecosystem. Technology providers, customers and institutions exchanged knowledge and explored practical solutions. Their discussions addressed evolving regulatory requirements and growing operational complexity.

Participants came from more than 30 countries across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Middle East. As a result, CID26 reinforced CMC Packaging Automation’s role as a global meeting point for the packaging automation community.
